ArcPrep graduates new class of DPS students

In June 2016, 33 select students from Detroit public high schools graduated from Taubman College’s Michigan Architecture Prep program (ArcPrep)—the third group to do so since the program was launched one-and-a-half years ago.

This year’s group also celebrated a milestone, as three students were awarded paid internships with Detroit-based Rosetti—an architecture and design firm—and two students were granted full tuition to a summer introductory course in architecture at Cornell University.

ArcPrep introduces high school juniors to the multi-faceted discipline of architecture through an immersive, semester-long educational experience held at the Michigan Research Studio, a U-M learning facility in Detroit’s Midtown district. President Mark Schlissel has high hopes for this Taubman College initiative, which he predicts “will allow [these students] to not only participate in but lead the rebirth of this great American city.”
