Lost or Damaged Paychecks

Faculty and staff who have lost or damaged a paycheck may submit a Lost Check Affidavit and receive a replacement check. Damaged checks may be brought to the Payroll Office along with the Lost Check Affidavit and a new check will be reissued within 1 business day. Lost checks may take 5 to 7 business days to reissue.

Checks that need to reissued a second time will be subject to a $15.00 fee. More than three reissued checks within a 6 month period for the same employee will also be subject to a $15.00 fee. The best way to guarantee payment and avoid fees is to sign up for direct deposit.

Note: Reissued paychecks cannot be produced while a scheduled payroll process is running.

Direct Deposit

It is strongly encouraged that University of Michigan faculty and staff enroll in direct deposit using Employee Business in Wolverine Access. Direct deposit is a safe and convenient way for faculty and staff to receive their paychecks and eliminates the chances of loss or damage.

Faculty and staff who have elected direct deposit and did not receive a deposit on the scheduled paydate may contact the Payroll Office for assistance.
