Requesting a Recharge Rate Approval Extension

Each unit will receive an initial recharge rate approval memo for any rates for goods or services reviewed and approved by Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis.  The memo will display an expiration date.
The procedure for completing an initial request can be found on the
Recharge Rate procedures web page.

After receiving the initial approval memo, each unit must request a rate review and receive rate approval prior to the expiration date indicated in the memo to continue to bill for services.
Units may not bill for services if the rates are expired.

Why do units need to request a rate approval extension?
     1.  When a rate is due to expire within the next 30 days
     2.  When additional time is needed to complete and submit an updated rate request AND
the rate has not yet already received a 30-day extension

When do units need to request a rate approval extension?
If a rate is to expire within the next 30 days, and if a unit needs additional time to complete the recharge submission updates, a temporary extension may be granted for up to 3 months from the rate expiration on the last approval memo.  Units should notify the Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis recharge team as soon as the need for an extension is known.

What happens if the rate expires?
The recharge supplier ID will be inactivated.

Generally, only one extension is allowed. If an updated rate submission isn’t received and the rates aren’t approved within the timeframe designated on the extension memo, the recharge supplier ID will be inactivated. No billing will be allowed until the rate is submitted and a new approval issued.

How to request a rate approval extension?
To request an extension to an existing rate approval, please send an email with the recharge ID to fin-fin-farecharge@umich.edu.
