Effort Reporting Procedures - As Needed Effort Certification Process
Ad hoc reporting for special circumstances, including:
- Employee terminated employment from the university and did not certify their effort in Wolverine Access via Employee Self Service prior to their termination date.
- A change was made to an individual's effort for a period already certified and the employee has left the university.
- Employee begins a Reduction in Force (RIF).
- Employee begins a Leave of Absence (LOA).
- Follow the instructions in MyLINC to create an As Needed Effort Certification Report. Be sure to use correct start and end dates. (https://maislinc.umich.edu/mais/html/HR_As_Needed_Effort_Certification_Report.html)
- Graduate Students
- Start Date is the first day of the term the student is certifying (01/01/20XX, 05/01/20XX, or 09/01/20XX).
- End Date is the last day of the term, or the last day worked, whichever is earlier.
- Regular Employees
- Start Date is the first day of the fiscal year the employee is certifying, i.e. 07/01/20XX.
- End date is the last day of the fiscal year, or the last day worked, whichever is earlier.
- If report is incorrect, unit administrator (or designee) initiates a DBE correction. Be sure to add a comment in the notes section that the change is required for effort reporting.
- Graduate Students
- Employee signs own Effort Certification Report and returns it to the unit administrator (or designee).
- Unit Administrator (or designee) sends signed Effort Certification Report to the Payroll Office.
